Bokashi fertilizer, also known as fermentation liquid or bokashi liquid, is a natural fertilizer, made during the fermentation process in a kitchen composter by adding bran with effective microorganisms. It is extremely useful either on the balcony or in the garden. But how to prepare it?
The process is extremely easy and will not require much effort. Fill your Bokashi Organko regularly and make sure to add 20 ml of biogen (Bokashi bran) after each layer of organic waste. The lid on the larger Bokashi Organko has to be closed tightly and the presser on the smaller Bokashi Organko 2 has to be used to squeeze the air out in order to begin the fermentation process correctly.
Once you have filled up your Bokashi Organko, add the bran and cover the composter for at least 14 days. In the meantime, the fermentation process will produce the Bokashi liquid, which you should drain out every 3-4 days. You can also start collecting the liquid before the composter is completely full.
Bokashi liquid is an extremely strong natural bokashi fertilizer that you need to dilute before you use it to water your plants. We advise you to mix it with water in a ratio of 1 : 100 if you water the plants less than once a week, but if you do it more often, then dilute it in a ratio of 1 : 200.
Just try and play with the magic of bokashi fertilizer. Water one part of your garden with Bokashi liquid, and at the same time water the other part of the garden with clean water only. You will quickly notice the difference!
